Dakar - SENEGAL | I signed a partnership agreement between IFAGE (Senegal) and WAII (West Africa)

A pioneer in insurance and actuarial training in French-speaking Africa, IFAGE, the Institut Interafricain d'Assurance et de Gestion, is a private school of higher education in Dakar (Senegal) that has been awarding undergraduate and graduate degrees since 2008. Quality in line with international standards has enabled IFAGE to obtain full accreditation from competent authorities such as (ANAQ-Sup) and (CAMES). As a result, IFAGE is now a member of the Board of Directors of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).

The West African Insurance Institute (WAII), an institution with full diplomatic status based in Banjul (Gambia), was established in 1978 by the governments of the English-speaking countries of West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), to educate insurance in the sub-region through a one-year, full-time, residential insurance diploma program, which runs from February to December each year. Both institutions share the vision that the actuarial profession should be recognized by ECOWAS as a major player in decision-making processes within the financial services industry, particularly in social protection, risk management and financial inclusion.

Consequently, a partnership was formed to further develop an actuarial sciences program implemented by IFAGE since 2018 with already two successful graduating classes. This academic cooperation offers African students who so wish the opportunity to follow a bilingual program in line with international standards, and to obtain a Master's degree in actuarial sciences recognized by the relevant national and international authorities. international authorities. This unique public-private partnership (PPP) will enable students from English- and French-speaking countries to complete their training in Dakar and, if they so wish, to sit the professional examinations of internationally recognized actuarial associations such as the Society of Actuaries (SoA), the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA), the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the Institute and Faculties of Actuaries (IFoA). The partnership between WAII and IFAGE was formalized by the signing of their cooperation agreement at a ceremony held on Monday September 25, 2023 in Dakar, Senegal.
